Periodontal Disease (also referred to as Gum Disease) is an inflammatory disease that is caused by bacteria infection in the gums, and is one of the common causes of tooth loss. This disease penetrates the gums, bones, and surrounding structures of your teeth, and can cause serious damage. The good news is that it can be prevented as well as treated.
Healthy gums are absolutely necessary to provide support to your teeth, and also to help keep your smile looking beautiful. When plaque is not regularly removed from the teeth, the gums become compromised, and so too does the health of your teeth.
Our certified dental hygienist diagnose periodontal disease and are usually able to treat the disease through two processes referred to as, scaling and root-planning.
